Summer fun with a side of sweet soft-serve frozen yogurt

This week, the weather started feeling like summer. Shorts came out, swimsuits went on and we spent a lot of hours in the pool. We wanted something cold and sweet after a hot swim, so we headed to Nubi Yogurt in Redlands for do-it-yourself frozen yogurt creations.

Nubi locations have a variety of frozen yogurt and sorbet flavors, as well as an array of fresh fruit, cookie, cereal and candy toppings. Most of the yogurt is fat free or 98 percent fat free.

Some of the regular flavors offered include vanilla, cheesecake, peanut butter, plain tart, blueberry tart, cafe latte, coconut, raspberry and green tea. The evening we visited Nubi, there was also red velvet cake (a hit with the kids), toffee nut and raspberry pomegranate tart.

We had combinations of red velvet, old-fashioned vanilla, strawberry, blueberry and raspberry pomegranate tart and toffee nut. Toppings included strawberries, gummy bears and worms, crumbled Butterfinger candy and crumbled Oreo cookies.

At the end of February both companies will send 100% of donations collected to aid relief efforts in Haiti. Joshua Liang, the CEO of the two companies, comments:

We settled in at a table and enjoyed our sweet treat, still smelling of chlorine and sunscreen. It was a perfect way to end a hot day of swimming, barbecuing and enjoying the sunny weather.
